Sorry it has taken me some time to update this blog. Long story short, I have had nothing to report. I have been plateaued for almost 2 weeks! I was really freaking out. I weighed every single day. I would go back and forth between 28 and 30 lb loss. It has made me a crazy person.
I kept thinking, "Is this it? Am I not going to lose any more weight?" I went through the emotions of failure and even embarrassment. I thought, if this is it for me, I will look like a total failure. I was dreading anyone asking me how much I had lost.
I had an appointment with my Nutritionist, and the Psychologist, on Wednesday. Here is what they said to my crazy self and my self doubt. They said Tammy, are you kidding me? You lost 30 lbs in 2 weeks! Most patients come for their 6 week Post-op appointment, and have lost 20-30 lbs in 6 weeks! I did that in 2 weeks! They said my body is freaking out! I had major surgery, 80% or my stomach removed, eating very little, etc. They told me to chill out and let my body catch up. They told me not to be surprised if my Plateau stick around for the next 10 days. It could happen. Not what I wanted to hear. I got a "taste" or rapid weight loss and seeing my body change. I wanted it to continue fast! (NOT a healthy way of looking at it, I know).
So my Nutritionist and I realized I am NOT getting the protein that I need, which is 60-80 grams per day! Not an easy task. I have not been taking my supplements (they are to big to swallow), and I m not eating enough. With all this combined, I have been very tired. Ya, I know. It was not a Ah-ha moment.
So, we figured out a way to make sure I am getting my protein. It is impossible to consume that much protein unless I am eating every 2-3 hours throughout the day. Also, If nothing else to be sure to take my B complex supplements, so that I am not so tired.
The Psychologist, told me to STOP weighing every single day. She said it is fine to weigh every day if after 5 min of weighing, I forget about it and move on. That is something I cannot do. I stressed about my plateau throughout the entire day. So therefore, I will only weigh on Fridays. Good news, I weighed today (Saturday) and I broke through my plateau. I am down 32 lbs! Whoot Whoot!
She asked if I was morning or craving my old food addictions. I told her at times I miss the cold Coke Zero that I was literally drinking as if it was water. But I do not miss it enough to have one. I want the healthy, thinner me, much more than I want a Coke Zero, or the sweets, or the chips and salsa that would devour on a daily basis. Nothing I can eat, tastes as good and losing weight feels. I'm going for it, all the way!
There is so much in my life changing, I decided to change me hair also. I love it! I also, decided to keep this change going and decided to paint my place. I went and pick out the paint and bought the first couple gallons.
It feels good to make positive changes in my life. Looking forward to every step of this journey! Are you with me> Stay tuned, the BEST is yet to come!
